When Saving Time and Money Is Important and Quality Matters!
Baby Animals Preschool and Kindergarten Lessons, Crafts, Activities, and Printables
NEW April 2010! Celebrate the new life of spring with this theme on baby animals born on the farm. Children engage in a series of activities, games, songs, and rhymes centered on baby animal vocabulary: chick, duckling, lamb, bunny, puppy, kitten, foal, calf, piglet, and kid. The felt story "Are You My Mom?" is a great way to introduce children to these terms. This theme is a natural tie-in to Easter activities , Mother's Day activities and Farm activities. In addition, children learn the sounds farm animals make along the way.
Samples of our baby animals inspired activities, lessons, crafts, folder games, and printables available in our KidsSoup Resource Library:

Baby Animals Rhymes and Activities:
Allow children to act out thesong individually or in pairs.
Over in the Barnyard
(Words Adapted from Author Unknown by Erin Lassiter)
Sung to the tune of "Down by the Station"
Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the yellow chicks
Pecking at the ground.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep,
That's their sound.
Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the brown puppies
Rolling on the ground.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
Arf, arf, arf, arf,
That's their sound.
Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the pink piglets
Lying on the ground.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
Oink, oink, oink, oink,
That's their sound.
Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the soft white lambs
Standing on the ground.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
Bah, bah, bah, bah,
That's their sound.
Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the spotted bunnies
Hopping on the ground.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
Click, click, click, click,
That's their sound.
Baby Farm Animal Sounds:
Are You Listening?
(Tune: Frere Jacques)
Are you listening, are you listening
To the cow, to the cow?
Hear the cow calling,
Hear the cow calling.
Moo, moo, moo; moo, moo, moo.
Repeat with other farm animals also like pig, horse, hen, duck.
