When the Leaves Are on the Ground

When the leaves are on the ground,
Instead of on the trees,
I like to make a great big pile of them
Way up to my knees.
I like to run and jump in them
And kick them all around.
I like the prickly feel of them
And the crickly, crackly sound.

Five Little Leaves (Finger Play)

Five little leaves so bright and gay (hold up 5 fingers)
Were dancing about on a tree one day (flutter fingers)
The wind came blowing through town (wind sounds)
One little leaf came tumbling down (hide 1 finger)

Four little leaves so bright and gay.
Repeat until there are zero little leaves.

Five little leaves
Flying by my door

Having lots of fun.

Leaves Are Falling All Around Fingerplay and Movement

Leaves are falling all around - (hold hands up and wiggle fingers)
Red, (sign language symbol for red or hold up a red leaf)
Yellow, (sign language symbol for yellow or hold up a yellow leaf)
Orange, (sign language symbol for orange or hold up an orange leaf))
And brown. (sign language symbol for brown or hold up an brown leaf)
Twirling, swirling to the ground (wiggle fingers and make circles with upperbody)
Look how many leaves I've found! (jump up with arms stretched out) 

Have You Seen?
(tune: Have you seen the muffin man?)

Hand out a red, yellow, orange, green, and brown leaf to each child. As you sing the song the childre pick the matching leaf and make the movements to the song.

Have you seen the orange leaves,
The orange leaves, the orange leaves?
Have you seen the orange leaves,
Swirling in the wind?

Repeat with red, yellow, green, and brown
