What you need:

Learning Goals and Standards:

  • Emotional self-regulation
  • Body awareness
  • Transition to calm activities

What you do:

Preparation

Children sit or lie down comfortably on the floor or in a circle.
Use a soft voice and create a calm atmosphere.

The teacher says:

“The bunny was very brave and happy today.
Now he is tired and wants to rest.”

Guided Relaxation

The teacher speaks slowly:

“Imagine you are a little bunny.
You are sitting very quietly in soft grass.”

Child’s Pose (Bunny Rest)

“Gently kneel down on the floor.
Sit back on your heels.
Slowly bend forward
and rest your upper body on your legs.”

“Your forehead may touch the floor
or stay very close to the floor.”

“Your ears become very relaxed.”
(Hands rest loosely next to the head)

“Your belly rises as you breathe in
and lowers as you breathe out.”

(Take 2–3 calm breaths together)

“You feel safe and content.”

Short pause.

“The bunny closes his eyes
and rests.”

The bunny is resting in the grass.

The bunny listens to the breeze and feels the warm sunshine.

Closing

The teacher says softly:

“When you are ready,
slowly open your eyes.”

Closing Question (optional)

“How does your bunny feel now?”
(calm, good, tired, happy)
