What you need:
Boxes and Bows Rhyming printables
Scissors
Rhyming Words Worksheet
Learning Goals and Standards:

- Expands vocabulary through sound play.
- Practices turn-taking and focus in small group settings.
What you do:
Preparation:
Print the Boxes and Bows Rhyming printables and cut them out.
Instructions:
- Show each picture to the children and say its name together.
- Choose one picture (for example, hat). Say the word “hat” aloud together.
- Ask: “Can you think of any words that rhyme with hat?” (cat, bat, sat, etc.)
- Let children find a bow with a picture that rhymes with hat and place it on top of the matching gift box.
- Continue until all gift boxes have matching rhyming bows.
Independent Play:
- Place the game in your reading or literacy center for children to play in pairs or small groups.

Extension:
Give each child a Rhyming Words Worksheet.
Let children circle the rhyming words on each row.
Use this as a simple assessment of rhyme recognition.
