What you do:

Preparation

  1. Print the Letters of the Alphabet Gift Boxes printables, laminate, and cut them out.
  2. Write the uppercase letters (A–Z) on the craft foam circles with a black marker.
  3. Glue each craft foam circle onto a gift bow.
  4. (Optional) If using a felt board, add Velcro dots to the back of the cards and bows. Attach a small felt dot to the front of each Alphabet Gift Box card.

Large Group

Set Up:
Hide several Alphabet Gift Box Cards (e.g., b, f, h, l, o, r, t, v, z) around the classroom.
Place the remaining cards on the felt board or reading chart in alphabetical order, leaving spaces for the missing letters.

Sing and Identify:
Look at the letters together and sing the alphabet song while pointing to each box.
Pause before a missing letter and ask:
“Which letter is missing?”

Hide-and-Seek Game:
Hold up a card with a letter (for example, C) and ask children to find the missing letter gift box hidden in the room.
When found, the child returns to the circle and says:
“I found the letter C gift box! It was under the chair!”

Small Group

  1. Place the bows (uppercase letters) in a container and the gift box cards (lowercase letters) on a tray.
  2. Let children match uppercase letter bows to the lowercase letter boxes.
