Pumpkin Lacing Card Activity

What you need:
Printed pumpkin lacing card templates
Scissors
Laminator (or cardboard for backing)
Hole punch
Orange yarn
Clear tape
Learning Goals and Standards:

- Pre-Writing Skills: Builds muscle memory needed for early writing.
- Concentration & Patience: Encourages focus and careful movement.
- Creativity: Children can lace in different patterns and directions.
What you do:
Preparation
- Print the pumpkin lacing cards.
- Cut out the pumpkin and laminate it, or glue it onto cardboard for extra strength.
- Punch holes around the edge of the pumpkin.
- Cut a piece of orange yarn. To make it easier to lace: Wrap clear tape tightly around one end to create a “needle.”
- Tie the other end of the yarn onto one hole of the pumpkin card.
Instructions:
Give each child a pumpkin lacing card and prepared yarn.
Show the children how to lace the yarn through the holes around the pumpkin.
Encourage them to go all the way around the shape.
