What you do:
Paint paper plate blue and let dry. When dry, have children dip their hand into green paint and press two times on the plate to create land. Trace two hands onto craft paper and cut out. Cut two strips for arms and glue arm and hand together. Glue arms with hands to the back of the paper plate. Decorate Earth with eyes and mouth.
This makes a nice bulletin board. On a sentence strip, have children write one way in which he or she can give Earth a hand. Hang the sentence strip below his/her Earth friend.
